En vertu de son article 35 alinéa 2, l'Acte uniforme de l'OHADA du 11 mars 1999 n'est applicable qu'aux instances arbitrales nées après son entrée en vigueur; cet Acte étant entré en vigueur 90 jours après sa publication au Journal officiel de l'OHADA (le 15 mai 1999), il s'ensuit qu'une sentence arbitrale rendue le 19 mars 1999 échappe à l'application de cet Acte uniforme.

Le 12 novembre 2025, une conférence portant sur les « Enjeux de l'adhésion du Burundi à l'OHADA » s'est tenue dans les locaux du cabinet Hogan Lovells à Paris. Lors de cette conférence, l'ouvrage « OHADA Burundi Perspectives stratégiques et convergences juridiques », publié chez VA Editions, a été officiellement présenté au public, en présence de l'éditeur.
