An OHADA delegation led by its Permanent Secretary, Prof. Mayatta Ndiaye MBAYE, took part on 26 May 2025 in Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) in the deliberations of the first African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) Members' Forum of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group.
Organised on the sidelines of the AfDB's Annual Meetings, the forum, chaired by Dr Akinwumi ADESINA, President of the AfDB Group, was an opportunity for the ALSF's Director General, Mr Olivier POGNON, to present an overview of the institution's activities, outline its prospects and call for greater support from its members and cooperation from partners.
In his speech, the Permanent Secretary recalled that OHADA, as a permanent framework for pooling efforts to improve the business climate in Africa, is an important development partner and a privileged technical supporter of the ALSF. He welcomed the long-standing collaboration between OHADA and ALSF, which has manifested itself in particular during the COVID period through the joint organisation of capacity-building sessions that have benefited more than a thousand professionals within and outside the OHADA area.
Convinced of the systemic scope of its strategic partnership with the ALSF, OHADA reiterated its support for the Facility before encouraging it to strengthen its invaluable support to States, particularly in the field of building African human capital and resolving investment disputes in Africa.
The Forum ended with exchanges between the Director of the ALSF and the Permanent Secretary of OHADA on ways of strengthening collaboration between the two organisations.
