Brochures for the OHADAC project to harmonize business law in the Caribbean

As we have informed you by our March 1, 2007 newsletter, the world-wide reputation and success of the OHADA regime has convinced many legal professionals and businesses, and certain governments of Caribbean States, to contemplate the establishment of a program to unify the business law in the Caribbean in a manner consistent with OHADA's principles. This new effort is "OHADAC" (Organisation pour l'Harmonisation du Droit des Affaires dans la Caraïbe; Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in the Caribbean). Its supporters will be meeting under the auspices of ACP Legal to help interested States implement this project. We are pleased to inform you that brochures concerning this project are available in English, Spanish and French, and will be widely distributed in the following months throughout the Caribbean States affected by this project, namely CUBA, VENEZUELA, HAITI, THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, JAMAICA, ST. MARTIN, ARUBA, BONAIRE, CURAÇAO, NEVIS AND ST. KITTS, ANTIGUA, ST. LUCIA, ST. VINCENT, GRENADA, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, GUYANA, AND SURINAM, plus the three European regions of the Caribbean: GUADELOUPE, MARTINIQUE AND FRENCH GUIANA. We anticipate that the brochures will also be available through lenders who, we hope, will support the project: the European Commission, Spain, the United States, Canada... As the OHADA example illustrates in Africa, OHADAC offers the Caribbean Region the promise of a law that is well-known and respected world-wide, thus reassuring investors and facilitating trade. The OHADAC program's launch will resonate throughout the Americas and, as a byproduct, will reinforce the OHADA laws' reputation in the Caribbean, Latin America, and North America.
