The Regional Advanced School of Magistracy (ERSUMA) of the Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa (OHADA), with technical support from the OHADA National Commission of Senegal and in partnership with Jilmonde Consulting Senegal and SIR-Africa, is organising a bimodal training session in Dakar from 21 to 24 July 2025 a bimodal training session on the theme: “ Specific operations relating to the OHADA accounting system for non-profit entities (SYCEBNL)”.

Concept note

Associations, NGOs, foundations, churches, mosques, etc., engaged in non-profit activities have specific requirements in terms of financial management and accounting for donations, grants, contributions and other non-commercial resources. The Uniform Act on the Accounting System for Non-Profit Entities (SYCEBNL), which came into force in the OHADA member states on 1 January 2024, makes it mandatory, for example, to keep a register of donors that is signed and initialled (Art. 17 of the SYCEBNL). The fundamental purpose of this text is to significantly improve the quality of information produced in the OHADA area within non-profit entities. It is therefore essential to strengthen the capacities of those involved in the accounting management of these entities to ensure the compliance, transparency and credibility of their financial statements.

Objectives of the training:

This training session will enable participants to:

  • Better understand the accounting procedures now required by SYCEBNL in the OHADA area;

  • Properly manage the accounting of non-profit entities;
  • Establish rules relating to accounting procedures in non-profit entities;
  • Identify and process specific NPO operations (non-market resources, social security contributions, volunteer commitments, etc.).
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with SYCEBNL models.
  • Understand the risks, rights, obligations and responsibilities now imposed by SYCEBNL;
  • Be able to perform accounting audits of non-profit entities.

Methodology:

The training will be delivered in a hybrid format, both in person and via videoconference, by OHADA audit and accounting experts. It will take the form of theoretical presentations, experience sharing, interactive discussions and group work, during which practical cases will be addressed.
