The OHADA Permanent Secretary, Professor Mayatta Ndiaye MBAYE, was received on Friday, 13 June 2025, in Dakar (Senegal) by Mr. Alioune DIONE, Minister of Microfinance, Social and Solidarity Economy of the Republic of Senegal.
Flanked by their close collaborators, the two officials engaged in cordial and fruitful discussions on major topics of mutual interest. Discussions focused on the orientation of public policies and the coordination of institutional stakeholders for the development of the social and solidarity economy, the status of the enforcement of the Uniform Act on Cooperative Companies in Senegal, and the implementation of the entrepreneurs' status. The discussions highlighted the central role played by OHADA, not only in establishing a simplified and efficient system for the formalisation and governance of enterprises, but also in raising awareness among economic stakeholders in general, and those in the cooperative sector in particular. Praising the thoughtful contributions of the Ministry of Microfinance, Social and Solidarity Economy in promoting the cooperative spirit, the Permanent Secretary recalled OHADA's role in supporting its member states towards the implementation of their public policies to combat poverty and unemployment and promote female and youth entrepreneurship.
Given the convergence of the missions of OHADA and the Ministry of Microfinance, Social and Solidarity Economy, the leaders of these two entities identified real opportunities for collaboration and committed to implementing joint awareness-raising, dissemination, and capacity building with a view to strengthening the ownership of cooperative law and the status of entrepreneurs.
