International Conference: the role of the statutory auditor in company governance under OHADA - 7 & 8 February, 2007 (Douala-Cameroon)

In collaboration with UNIDA, the OHADA Clubs in Cameroon and the AFECAC accounting firm are organizing an international Conference on the theme: "The role of the statutory auditor in company governance". The conference will take place on the 7 and 8 of February, 2007 at the headquarters of GICAM in DOUALA. Professionals who would consider this conference particularly informative include statutory auditors, certified public accountants, lawyers (members of the bar and in-house counsel), judges, registrars/clerks, notaries, and company managers and senior executives. The infamous financial scandals involving the likes of Enron and WorldCom raised many questions concerning the efficacy of monitoring systems external to the company. The AFECAC Conference focused on further implementation of the OHADA business law and on promoting good governance of companies in the OHADA territory, provides an opportunity to examine the fundamental but too often underappreciated role of statutory auditors in the management of companies. Particular attention will be focused on the support from the following organizations and institutions, on which the statutory auditors must necessarily depend: - Judges and prosecutors, - Court registrars/clerks, - Senior management (including directors) and shareholders, - Professional Association of Certified Public Accountants and Statutory Accountants. The Seminar is geared in implementing the OHADA law and the target groups are accountant experts and non-chartered accountants, barristers, court registrars, notaries, company directors, magistrates, legal consultants.
