Publication in Spain of the first textbook on OHADA Law in Spanish: The harmonization of business law in Africa under the impulse of OHADA

We are pleased to inform you of a relevant publication in Spain in collaboration with the Spanish Ministry of Justice. Title: THE HARMONIZATION OF BUSINESS LAW IN AFRICA UNDER THE IMPULSE OF OHADA Editor: Ministry of Justice / Scientific General Secretariat - Spain This new textbook is, the first made in Spanish, it is a good illustration of interaction between African and European jurists, and has been written in partnership with the President of the Supreme court of Equatorial Guinea, Mr Sergio Esono Abeso Tomo and two Spanish jurists, Mr Jose M. Cueto Alvarez de Sotomayor, European Business Consultant, former technical assistant for the European Commission at ERSUMA in Porto Novo, Benin (2000-2004) and Mr Juan Carlos MARTINEZ GARCIA, Lawyer in Zaragoza, Spain . The preface signed by the Spanish Minister of Justice Mr Juan Fernando LOPEZ AGUILAR ,the Secretary General of "OIF" His Excellency Abdou Diouf and the president of UNIDA Mr Keba MBAYE is the main proof that these three organisations have duly contributed to the publication of this textbook. The OIF, the French Cooperation, via UNIDA, and the Spanish Ministry of Justice, altogether shares the same ideology that the promotion of the rule of law is conducive to more stability, prosperity which lead to legal and judicial security throughout Africa is favourable to foreign investment and development. All of them are implicated in the implementation of the harmonized and unified business law in Africa. This textbook is the expression of their commitment. The textbook summarised on the one hand the history and the evolution of OHADA, its institutions, its organs, its functioning, its future perspectives and on the other hand providing a clear and didactic presentation of the different uniform Acts in force. The Lunch took place at Banapa's conference room at Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on October 23rd, 2006 during the official visit of the Spanish minister of Justice to the counterpart in Equatorial Guinea, during a ceremony headed by both ministers with the higher judicial authorities of Equatorial Guinea and in presence of the different legal and judiciary professional bodies. This textbook is an important instrument for the dissemination of OHADA which will strongly contribute to provide additional information and knowledge of Business Law not only in Equatorial Guinea which is the only Spanish-speaking country amongst the OHADA states , but also in Spain and in all Latino - American countries. The target group is legal professionals, academicians, institutions, researchers, businessmen from Spanish-speaking countries with a potential interest to invest in the OHADA zone and ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) and CEMAC in Central Africa This textbook is actually available : - at the Spanish Ministry of Justice, department of documentations and publications, C/San Bernardo, 62-28071 MADRID encarnacion.iglesias@mjusticia.es - and soon will be available in Equatorial Guinea at the Supreme Court.
