My dear friends, dear colleagues, dear brothers and sisters,
The year 2019 saw the renewal of the governing bodies of OHADA and in particular the Permanent Secretary.
Once again, I want to salute the excellent work accomplished by Professor Dorothé COSSI SOSSA, whose contribution will mark the OHADA institution for a long time.
We now have a new Permanent Secretary, the Professor Emmanuel Sibidi DARANKOUM whose first actions already confirm to us his firm will to lead OHADA beyond its baptismal funds.
We believe in the solidity of OHADA's institutions as a guarantee of the credibility of investments in Africa.
In these troubled times when violence and force seem to take over, where confinement and withdrawal into identity night regain ground, OHADA appears in this context as a factor of peace and stability.
Yes, we state it bluntly, OHADA has erected the framework for a supranational rule of law that is a factor of peace and stability.
It is time for the African Union to finally consider OHADA not just as a legal tool but as a real tool for integration between states and therefore a factor of peace and stability.
Seen thus, OHADA has its partition to play, in the construction of the African Union agenda 2063, as a model of Rule of Law and benchmark for the establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA).
In this perspective, we should welcome the letter from the Permanent Secretariat of December 6, 2019, calling for the creation of a common OHADA/ACFTA area.
The project thus launched is vast, ambitious and promising if we want to achieve African integration.
The OHADA Bordeaux Club subscribes to this vision and stands ready to make its contribution to this work.
We know we can count on your unwavering support, which allowed us to receive on December 19, 2019, the prize for the best OHADA Club 2019, awarded by the Cameroonian business lawyers association (CBLA), led by my excellent colleague Mr. Charles TCHUENTE: http://acaa-cbla.org/
We would like to thank the said association for the choice made on our association, the quality of its organization and the remarkable work accomplished by it, in Cameroon, with business leaders and legal practitioners.
