ERSUMA-OHADA: Organization of the first official training session out of the OHADA space from 24 to 27 october 2017 in Casablanca (Kingdom of Morocco)

The Higher Regional School of Magistracy (ERSUMA) of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA) organized, in partnership with the HJK Group of Morocco, its first training session out of OHADA space on the theme “Practice of Arbitration and Mediation in the OHADA Area: Approaches and Methods for Effective Dispute Settlement”.

The session was held from 24 to 27 October 2017 in Casablanca, at the KENZI TOWER HOTEL, and focused on the two following (02) modules:

• Module 1: “Practice of Mediation in the OHADA Space” on 24 and 25 October 2017, co-presented by Mrs. Bintou BOLIDJIBO, Permanent Secretary of the Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation Center of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) and Olivier Cuperlier, Lawyer at the Paris Bar (France);
• Module 2: “Practice of Arbitration in the OHADA space” on October 26 and 27, 2017, co-presented by Maitre Narcisse AKA, Secretary General of the Arbitration Center of the Common Court of Justice and Arbitration (CCJA) and Mrs. Bintou BOLI DJIBO, Permanent Secretary of the Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation Center of Ouagadougou (Burkina-Faso).

As part of the Institution's paid training program, this training session brought together twenty-four (24) participants of different nationalities and professions (heads of arbitration and mediation centers, arbitrators, mediators, lawyers, notaries, corporate lawyers, banking and insurance lawyers, company managers, managers, legal directors, legal advisers, managers and agents of investment promotion agencies). It was conducted according to a participative and inclusive approach with focus on role plays and scenarios that allowed a wide sharing of experiences between trainers and participants.

This training session, which ended on a note of general satisfaction from the participants, was followed by the first certified training at the headquarters of ERSUMA in Porto-Novo, Benin, from November 27 to December 1st, 2017, on “The practice of mediation in the OHADA space”.
