Visit of the Chairperson of the OHADA Council of Ministers at the Permanent Secretariat / Yaoundé, 28 and 29 May 2015

visite-pcm-ohada-au-spo2015-13As part of his tour of the OHADA Institutions, His Excellency Gnénéma Mamadou COULIBALY, Minister of Justice, Human Rights and Civil Liberties of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of OHADA, visited the Permanent Secretariat on 28 and 29 May 2015.

In his welcome address, Professor Dorothé Cossi SOSSA, Permanent Secretary of OHADA, welcomed the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers and praised his constant consideration. He then called his attention on two key issues: the timely mobilization of resources allocated to Institutions, and the operationalization of multilingualism, which is an urgent need.

The Permanent Secretary seized the opportunity to express the gratitude of the Organs and Institutions of OHADA to the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire for its crucial support to the actions of OHADA. He also praised the Republic of Cameroon, which offered to the Organization an ideal headquarters for its deployment.

On behalf of the staff of the Permanent Secretariat, Ms Guilène-Vicky NGNOUJIBA took the floor to welcome the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers and present the staff of the Institution. She stressed that the staff is proud to serve OHADA and to meet the challenges facing the Organization. She noted a number of shared concerns, among which, the adoption of a modern, clear and balanced staff regulations.

In his speech, the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers reiterated the crucial role of the Permanent Secretariat within the institutional framework of OHADA. He stressed that because of this role, the staff serving in the said Institution must demonstrate a particularly high sense of duty and responsibility. He further noted that the precepts of good governance and sound management must be strictly observed. The Chairperson showed a sustained interest regarding the staff concerns. He also held an important working meeting with the entire staff of the Permanent Secretariat and on this occasion, the exchange enabled to examine the various concerns and to outline suggestions for optimising the functioning of the Institution.

It should be noted that the visit to the Permanent Secretariat comes two weeks after that to the Higher Regional School of Magistracy (ERSUMA) and is part of the traditional annual tour of the Council of Ministers' Chairperson to the Institutions of OHADA.

On the sidelines of the visit to the Permanent Secretariat, the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers held talks with His Excellency Pierre TITI, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Cameroon.
